According to CCTD China Coal Market Network, from April 1st to 9th, national electricity generation and consumption increased by 5.37% year-on-year, a decrease of 3.5 percentage points compared to March. Among them, clean energy power generation increased by 8.73% year-on-year, 4.65 percentage points higher than thermal power; thermal power generation accounted for 71.91%, a decrease of 4.52 percentage points compared to January-March, equivalent to a reduction of 5.88 billion kilowatt-hours in thermal power generation, and an average daily reduction of 261,300 tons of coal consumption.

By power source type, from April 1st to 9th, except for hydropower generation, which decreased by 4.83% year-on-year due to poor water conditions, nuclear power generation increased by 31.48% year-on-year, wind power generation increased by 27.44% year-on-year, and solar power generation increased by 65.18% year-on-year, all significantly exceeding the growth rate of thermal power generation.

With the end of the heating season and the increased use of clean energy, the demand for coal for power generation has slowed significantly, and the supply of coal for power generation has been significantly alleviated. In addition, with the increase in coal supply at producing areas and the decline in coal prices, the tight coal supply situation will be further alleviated.
