Recently, the Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued a notice on stopping the promotion policy of energy-saving home appliance subsidies. The notice stated that the promotion policy of energy-saving home appliance subsidies will cease to be implemented after its expiration, that is, from June 1, 2013, consumers who purchase five types of energy-saving home appliances such as air conditioners, flat screen TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and water heaters will no longer enjoy the central government subsidy policy.

The notice pointed out that in order to expand domestic demand, stimulate green consumption, and promote energy conservation and emission reduction, in June 2012, the State Council decided to use financial subsidies to promote five types of high-efficiency energy-saving household appliances, including air conditioners, flat screen TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and water heaters, with a promotion period of one year. Since the implementation of the policy, the promotion effect has been significant, the market share of energy-saving home appliances has increased significantly, and the effect of driving consumption has been obvious. The expected goals of the policy have been basically achieved. After the expiration of the energy-saving home appliance subsidy promotion policy, it will cease to be implemented. Starting from June 1, 2013, consumers who purchase the five types of energy-saving home appliances mentioned above will no longer enjoy the central government subsidy policy. Relevant enterprises and local departments should cooperate with each other and carry out publicity work through various channels such as television, the internet, and newspapers, so that consumers can timely and accurately understand policy regulations. Local departments should strengthen publicity while coordinating various aspects, carefully reviewing and timely reporting enterprise promotion materials.
